Bukit Bintang, the city's shopping and nightlife district, hosts a street countdown outside Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. KL Tower revived its own fireworks for the 2024-25 countdown, the first display since 1996, launching them from more than 300 metres up the tower.
Programmes change from year to year. Dataran Merdeka (Merdeka Square) has long been a popular New Year's Eve venue, though events there have at times been cancelled or scaled down, while The Exchange TRX and other malls have added countdown parties of their own.
